Zia’s help with my personal statement was THE reason why I got accepted. Zia is hands down, THE GUY when it comes to helping you create something that the admitting committees actually WANT to read. These committees read thousands of essays, most of which are boring and basically the exact same. So often times, an outstanding personal statement can be the deciding factor that gets you accepted or not. For me personally, it was the deciding factor because I was applying with a lower GPA. Besides a stellar DAT score, a great personal statement is what gets students accepted because, if done right, it conveys to the committee what you are like as a person; which can often times be more valuable to them than anything else. Zia worked his tail off with me. Through lots of brain storming, countless skype calls, and multiple edits, we were finally able to have a finished product that I was very proud of. The value you get from Zia’s services is seriously unparalleled, and well worth more than the cost. He really broke things down for me, and explained the kind of structure I needed to have. Zia just understands the art of writing on a whole other level. Not only is he talented, but he’s also extremely diligent. He put in a ton of effort to get to know my situation, in order to help create a better and more personalized statement. Everybody’s situation is different, and he really works to find the unique qualities of your story, and convey them properly through the essay. He’s also very honest with you. If something is not good, he doesn’t waste your time by telling you it’s good. Instead he lets you know immediately that it needs work, and then provides suggestions as to how y’all could make it better. The difference between what I started with, and the final product is night and day. I could not have created what I did, without Zia’s help, and I would be more than happy to use him again.

If you are confused, discouraged, or lost somewhere in the process of applying to dental school, then Muhammed will your savior. You will have no doubt on his creditability due to his rich experience and intelligence. He is phenomenal when it comes to editing your personal statement. I have never seen anyone who is highly responsible as him and spends a tremendous effort for a meticulous revision. He responds to your email promptly, follows your timeline, and tears down your weaknesses by making a thorough youtube video. I am so grateful for his time, understanding, and compassion. He is the person who not only has a big heart, but also has the sincerity to wish every student to succeed. Love you from the bottom of my heart

Muhammed was a super cool guy when it comes to editing your Personal Statement. I believe it takes more than just effort and enthusiasm to make such nice and great suggestions. I like how cool it is when he actually takes his time and makes a short video clip on how to specifically fix your essay. With your own idea and with Muhammed’s great helps, a personal statement is not that big of a deal anymore. Thank you! Muhammed, You have SUCH a big heart. I can’t believe you actually made a video explaining your comments and all. I am so glad I sent my personal statement to you… Thank you so so much for your time and effort. Can I please recommend you to my friends that will be applying next cycle? I still can’t believe the amount of effort you put into my PS without asking for anything back. Please let me give you something in return.

Muhammed is an incredible resource. He’s very accessible, friendly, and insightful. I’ve shown my personal statement to many different people, but Muhammed looked at my paper and really dissected each sentence in a way that few others can. There was undeniably a lot of time and thought put into his comments on my paper, and I’m really appreciative of him.

These successful students were in your shoes a year ago. Some of them were stressed because they were not good writers and did not have any clue how to write personal statements.

Here are the top  3 mistakes these successful students were making before they approached me:

Mistake #1: Not starting with a hook

You have 20-30 second to hook an adcom into reading your essay. If you write something generic and uninspiring, you will not gain their attention. Even if you have a great GPA or a great DAT score, you personal statement might become the reason you don't get an acceptance letter. Here's what one of my student wrote before she came to me:

I am different from the average applicant to dental school. At the age of 33, I have already raised my children, lived in a beautiful cohousing community, originated loans, hired and managed employees, and worked in the operating room at a hospital.  My path towards dental school was not a result of one defining moment, but through personal experiences, influential people, and my ultimate desire to improve the life of those in the community.

Do you see how uninteresting the example above is?

Now take a look at a storified introduction that hooks adcom right away into reading the rest of the statement:

A terrified girl with a swollen upper lip trudges into the endodontic clinic. She needs an emergency retreat of her root canal due to a poor previous obturation. As the needle pierces her gums, childhood memories of getting root canals without anesthesia flood her body with even greater pain and fear. Her student dentist wipes away her tears and holds her hand tighter. “The worst part is over,” remarks the soothing voice of the resident as she puts away the syringe. She is amazed by how fast the pain goes away. This girl was me three years ago, and it was this moment that I first envisioned dentistry as my career.

Mistake #2: Writing lots of generic B.S. and no specific details/examples/stories

Take a look at what one of my students wrote before deciding to work with me:

My volunteering experience gives me the opportunity of witnessing many dental procedures. The limitless uses of materials to restore teeth and form impression for braces confirm my interest in dentistry. The medical knowledge, which the dentist possesses to counsel patients in preventative actions for oral diseases, is very appealing to me. I am amazed that medicine is also practiced in dentistry through administration of anesthesia. I am truly passionate about dentistry because it revolves around practicing the art of tooth restoration. Thus, dentistry is my career of choice.

Now, let's look at the transformation below after working with me:

Knowing that my grandfather lacked oral health education and had limited dental care during his lifetime, I felt a sense of duty to help those who lack access to dental care. I helped serve the underprivileged by volunteering at the California Dental Association Free Clinic. In particular, I remember a forty-year old Hispanic immigrant named Julio, who was also a low-income father of four. Majority of his teeth was decayed and in need of urgent restoration. After talking to him, I learned that his condition was the result of a lack of access to quality dental care. Due to financial constraints, he could not afford to visit a dentist for a long time. He was grateful that the Free Clinic had given him this opportunity to restore his teeth. Talking to Julio was eye opening, as it inspired me to reach out to the disadvantaged population and educate them about oral health. One day, I wish to provide equitable access to dental care to all.

Mistake #3: Not having proper structure to the essay

If you hire an amateur editor, he'll work on your grammar. If you hire a professional editor, he will work on your statement's structure.

It's plain simple. If your essay does not have a good structure, it will not flow well. You won't believe how many pre-dents come to me thinking that their essay just needs a bit of polishing and I have to completely revamp the essay's structure, because these essays lack substance and proper structure.

If you work with me, the first thing we settle is the structure/flow of your essay. Once we perfect the structure, then we move onto checking style and grammar.

Don't get me wrong, style and grammar are important part of writing a personal statement. But at the early stage, you have to focus on the flow of your essay and perfect it.

Take a look at the structure advice I provided to a student:

  • Start with a hook: Talk about your experience as a patient and how it motivated you to become a dentist. Mention that you want to create an impact that your dentist had on you
  • transition to your public health internship where you had real impact on people's lives and how you see dentistry as a way to give people a good life. Make sure you tell stories of people you had interacted with. Don't just tell me, show me with examples and stories.
  • Mention your experience shadowing. Talk about one or two unusual but interesting cases you have seen.
  • Talk about your research accomplishments. Mention how your research instilled in you qualities that will make you a great dentist.
  • Wrap it up with some concluding statement restating how you will make an impact as a dentist.

So, What's the Dental School Coach Difference?

We provide a video teardown of your essay

If you decide to work with me, I will do a video teardown of your essay. All of my students love it.

The Youtube Review of my PS was an eye-opening experience because it allowed me to experience first hand what Zia’s initial thoughts and impressions were as he was reading my PS for the very first time. Zia was thorough in his Youtube Review, offered specific advice on areas for improvement, and explained why these areas needed improvement.

We represent your true self

A big complaint against personal statement editing services is that you lose your unique voice when someone else edits your essay.

But it's not the case with dental school coach. IF you decide to work with me, I'll know about your application inside out. Through our 1 on 1 calls, I will learn all the details that we need to put in the personal statement.

My students are always amazed at how I know them more than they themselves do by the end of writing that personal statement.

Muhammed was very helpful with editing my personal statement. A lot of people shy away from being honest, afraid of offending you, but Muhammed gave me the truth about where my personal statement needed improvement. He also sent me a video voicing his editing process, and this was very useful. What I liked most about his editing is that he gave you examples to clarify what he means, and not a lot of people do this. Every time he made a note or suggested I change something, he gave an example using actual personal statements. Aside from that, he was very quick to edit my paper and I am so grateful for all the work he did!

Frequently Asked Questions

So, how does it really work?

As soon as you buy the service, we connect you with a coach. She/he will set up a 30 min Skype session with you to brainstorm stories and ideas for your essay. In the same meeting, she/he creates a framework and structure for your essay using your unique stories. This structure is unique to you (and only you).

Then, you get to write the first draft of your personal statement. Once you are done writing the first draft, you send it back to your coach. The coach then reviews the essay in-depth and make suggestions and edits where necessary. She/he also will set up a 15-min phone call to chat with you about writing your second draft.

You and the coach repeat the steps until your essay is submitworthy. If you get three-edits, the coach will do three revisions/edits of your essay, while for unlimited edits, you get to work with your coach until you are fully satisfied with your essay.

Why would I pay for your service when I can get free reviews from SDN? or from my pre-health advisors? or from my school’s writing center?

Compare my services to

  • Utilize Pre-health advisor:They are usually pretty shitty and don’t give good feedback. On top of that, they probably have never applied/got accepted to dental school.
  • School’s Writing Center: They are a bit more reliable than your pre-health advisor. But, you don’t get to control who you will work with. Often, you will have to work with multiple people to get your draft edited. It creates inconsistencies in your personal statement. Do you really want that?
  • Get help from some Random SDN Personality (RSP): You don’t know who that person is and cannot trust him with your personal statement. He may or may not give you useful feedback. He might just check grammar in your essay and tell you that it’s a great draft, while you know how SHITTY your personal statement draft is. Plus, what if he leaks your personal statement on the internet?
  • You can beg your friends to check your personal statement. They probably will check it once but then when you go back to them second time, they will make excuses and avoid you.
  • You may choose to not accept help from anyone. Think about it before making that decision. Would you really risk  writing a sub-par personal statement and get rejected from your dream dental schools? If I were you, I’d ask for help from an expert who can give me some peace of mind by helping me writing a GREAT personal statement.

What's your turnaround time?

72 hours or less from the time I receive your personal statement draft(s).

How can I trust you?

I have helped more than 900 pre-dentals in the last two years. My students got into schools like Harvard, Penn, UCSF, UCLA, USC, UoP, NYU, Baylor etc. Look at my testimonial page to read what my past students are saying about me.

I also have a 100% money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with my service, let me know and I will give your money back.
